Ms. Ola Hemphill taught mathematics in the Detroit Public Schools system for 25 years. She retired in 2001. During her tenure she developed and utilized a classroom management system to monitor (chart) and modify inappropriate student behavior. The success of the system led to co-workers seeking her help to improve classroom management skills.
In 1994 Ms. Hemphill wrote her first classroom management book, 'The Classroom Monitoring System.' Her current book, 'When Kids Don't Listen' (2002), is an updated version of the first book and will be updated in a third edition under a new title scheduled for release Fall 2009.
Ms. Hemphill is also the author of a set of math cards, Multiplication Facts All By Myself. The card set gives a student an opportunity to have fun as he/she practice multiplication facts without the help of another person. Ms. Hemphill has been blessed to have the cards purchased by several schools in Michigan, Ohio and Texas.
Ms. Hemphill has conducted classroom management workshops that include 'The African American Child in Crisis Conferences' held in Detroit, MI at Cobo Hall, 1995 and 1996. She currently conducts workshops for schools and accepts temporary assignments to work as a classroom management and/or mathematics consultant.

ORDER IN THE TEACHER'S COURT!!
Yes! The classroom is the teacher's
court! But, unlike a judge
conducting a court session, a
teacher cannot bang on a desk with a
gavel to gain students attention
