Jazz vocalist Ola Hemphill performs at Bert's Market Place Jazz Club in Detroit, MI, June 25, 2009. Performing with Ola is the SBH trio featuring Bill Meyer (keyboard), Kenneth Rice, aka Spider Web (drums) and Ibrahim Jones (on bass subbing for world renown bass player Ralphe Armstrong). Guest musicians include Larry Smith (world renowned saxophonist) and Thomas Hale (sax). Ola Hemphill was the host for the June 25, 2009 jazz jam session that, as of 2010, has run continuously for nine years. A wonderful celebration was held on March 25th at Bert's. The celebration included video clips of past performances that also included fabulous bass player, Hubie Crawford (deceased). Ola will again host the jazz jam session the last Thursday in June to celebrate her upcoming birthday.
